Ed Carey has been a member of our team since 2013. A former Santa Barbara County Fire Captain, Ed was not ready to stop serving when he retired.

Ed Carey

He now works a few hours a week in our warehouse doing anything from running the food packing line to sweeping the floors. He always has a smile on his face and likes that no two days are the same.

I heard there was a need for those who could volunteer for a few hours once a week.  It has been a great blessing to me as I work alongside our volunteers, including several special needs groups.  I experience great joy each day that I get to work at filling the needs of others at the Community Mission of Hope.”

On Wednesdays our warehouse is a hustle and bustle of volunteers stacking pallets, receiving food donations and sorting food. We work with a group of special needs young adults from Care-Rite vocational. They are an incredible blessing to our ministry. Hard working and dedicated, these volunteers bring excitement and fun into the warehouse. Ed is especially impressed by the way they work so well together always supporting and loving on one another.

We are always in need of more Wednesday volunteers. It’s fun, easy and rewarding. Just stop by our warehouse any Wednesday (excluding holidays) at 9:00am and our warehouse director, Maggie Allen, will put you right to work. You may even run into Ed! If you do please thank him for his years of dedication to Community Mission of Hope!
